Regular oil and filter changes prevents the degredation of your engine's moving parts.

What is a Full Service, and Why Should You Do It?
A full service generally involves an oil change, air filter change, spark plug change (on a petrol car), a fuel filter change (on a diesel car) and a cabin filter change.
As I explained above, regular oil changes will prevent the degredation of your engine.
Air filters will need to be changed so that your engine gets enough air to prevent over consumpstion of fuel (costing your more everytime you visit the petrol station).
Your spark plugs and fuel filter wear out eventually, so they need to be replaced.
And the cabin fiter will eventually clog up, and let's face it, that's the air that you breathe, so I'd say that's the most important one!
